Hi, I am Ida
Hi, I’m Ida; the cook, photographer, and color chaser behind The Color of Food. I grew up between two very different worlds: rainy Oregon, where my mom filled our kitchen with herbs and homemade bread, and summers in Denmark with my grandmother, who taught me that food doesn’t need to be fancy to be beautiful, it just needs heart.
This blog started in the corner of my tiny apartment kitchen, mostly as a way to keep track of the recipes I was experimenting with. But somewhere between the flour-dusted countertops and Saturday morning photo sessions, it turned into something bigger; a place to celebrate food that’s full of color, meaning, and memory.
I believe our plates should look like palettes: bright, imperfect, and alive. Here, you’ll find recipes inspired by the seasons, Scandinavian simplicity, and little everyday moments that deserve to be savored.
When I’m not cooking, I’m probably outside chasing sunlight for the next photo shoot, sketching recipe ideas in watercolor, or sipping coffee with old cookbooks piled beside me.
I’m so glad you’re here; pull up a chair, grab a spoon, and let’s make something colorful together.
